The song that was sung 20 minutes into the film was the melody of Blue Moon but with different lyrics.

"Manhattan Melodrama Was also reasonable of the third setting of the "Prayer/ Blue Moon" tune. Under its new title "The Bad In Every Man" It was sung by Shirley Ross in the film."

I came to this board just now to post that. I have it on TCM while I was working around the house and kept humming this tune note for note but I knew I didn't know the song on tv and then it hit me that's Blue Moon.
