Does Hitchcock make an appearance in this one?
One of three things happened:
1) He doesn't appear in this film
2) I missed it
3) The version on TCM was trimmed (doubtful)

LOL. I missed it, too. I re-watched it on Netflix online and he may appear 33 minutes into the film. There's a rotund man seen crossing the street in a black trench coat with hat just before they enter the tabernacle. I can't tell for sure.
shareHe didn't. Hitch started making cameo appearances in his films starting with "The Lodger", that is all his films after 1939.
shareActually...
The Lodger was 1927, not 1939.
So the question still stands.
The question is now solved!
I've looked for in several videos and sites that lists Hitch's cameos and none lists this movie. He didn't appear in all his movies, but sometimes he appeared twice in a movie!
I myself keep looking for him, and I thought I have missed like I missed in the 1956's remake. I also thought that he could be a fat cop in the hotel, when Mr. Lawrence is walking down the stairs.
Bur no, he is not in this particular movie.

On the Criterion commentary, Philip Kemp agrees that Hitchcock probably does not have a cameo.
However, at 34:24 he says that some people think Hitchcock appears ...
"on the right of the screen wearing a shiny coat and hat, crossing the road just as the Isle of Man bus passes. Personally, I doubt whether it's him -- just a portly extra. If it is Hitch, it's certainly the briefest and most unobtrusive of all his cameos."
