the nature of the enemy


it's interesting that the attackers are said to be Arabs. the British Empire was at war with the Ottoman Empire, and tried with varying success to enlist the help of the local Arabs, who were often hostile to the Turks -- as in Lawrence of Arabia. i've found no evidence of the Mesopotamian Arabs attacking British troops.

Could be those of Jabal Shammar who were at war with the Saud's during WWI; and the Saud's were aligned with the British Empire.

I've often wondered about same where The Lost Patrol is concerned. The geography seems wrong to me, too. Good point.
