Great movie!

I like it a lot and it's quickly become a favorite, where I hope TCM will air it someday soon!

It's a simple love story set in 1840's Scotland where a young minister falls in love with a woman who pretends that she's a gypsy.

The film got me so interested that I plan on reading the novel by J.M. Barrie - the man who gave us Peter Pan.

I enjoyed it too. All I can say is I watched it on TCM and thank goodness it had closed captioning. There is no way I could have understood half of what they said (in their Scottish dialect)otherwise. I now know "ken" means know...I believe.

I recorded several months ago off of TCM, but just got around to watching it today. I loved it! What a lovely movie.

Despite the sentimentality and religious overtones being overly done, The Little Minister was worth it for Katharine Hepburn. She gave the film a dose of charm and delight which made her by far the best performer.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".
