If this one of your favorite films, what are the other ones?

Can you pick a few recommendations? At least those films from the same era (the 1930s).

(Or alternatively similar films in general)

Libeled Lady from 1936 would be in the same vein-Walter Connelly plays the millionaire father to Myrna Loy.Wm Powell is a reporter trying to romance Loy's character by Masquerading as a wealthy fisherman.
Spencer Tracey and Jean Harlow also star-would explain more of the film-but just watch it,Its great

Actually, any movie with Myrna Loy and William Powell would fit the bill -- the six Thin Man's, Libeled Lady, I Love You Again, Double Wedding. Also, anything with Tracy and Hepburn; anything with Cary Grant and Irene Dunne or Jean Arthur; Philadelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, and Holiday with Grant and Hepburn; Third Finger Left Hand with Loy and Melvyn Douglas; Love Affair with Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer; Bachelor Mother with Ginger Rogers and David Niven; Midnight with Colbert and Don Ameche; Ninotchka with Garbo and Douglas -- lots more but those come immediately to mind.

The Lady Eve is early 1940s, but probably my other favorite romantic comedy.

Most of Frank Capra's films are great. The Tracy/Hepburn films. Cary Grant's comedies. And a bit later, Some Like It Hot! One of my favorite all time comedies. I think I've seen it four or five times.

I wouldn't say it's one of my all-time favorite movies, but it's definitely one of my favorite movies from the first half of the 1900's, and probably one of my favorite romcoms next to Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally and Jerry Maguire. So there's those...

From the 30's I would recommend My Man Godfrey, which is quite similar to this one in style and tone. If you haven't seen them I would also recommend The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Although very different movies, they're all true classics that revolutionized cinema and deserve to be watched at least once, if for no other reason that to say you've seen them :)
Also His Girl Friday (no relation...) from 1940 is a very good and funny movie from the Depression era.

If you're not American you might not have seen It's a Wonderful Life either. It's considered to be Frank Capra's magnum opus, and it's one of my all-time favorites. I don't consider it a romcom though, and the less you know about it before watching it the better. In fact, don't even check it's profile on imdb and DO NOT read the plot synopsis if you don't already know what it's about.

My Favorite Wife... The More the Merrier... Mr. Blandings Builds his Dreamhouse ... The Awful Truth... Mr & Mrs. Smith. Gotta love those screwball comedies!!

Twentieth Century with Carole Lombard & John Barrymore in a great role for him. Lombard was on her way up & Barrymore was on his way down both life & career wise. Carole fought to give him third billing in True Confessions.

I also love Mr. Deeds Goes To Town, My Man Godfrey, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, To Be Or Not To Be.

There are so many more, but these are amongst my favorites.

Today is the last day for It Happened One Night on TCM on demand. I'm going to watch it tonight. I watched Twentieth Century Monday on TCM on demand & plan to watch it again before it's over.

Another favorite is Miriam Hopkins with Gary Cooper & Frederic March in Design for Living.

This film actually reminded me of a musical I like even better, called That Girl from Paris (1936), starring Lily Pons. So, check that one out! Great songs in it too---and a young Lucille Ball in a small role early in her career.

Please excuse typos/funny wording; I use speech-recognition that doesn't always recognize!

There's so much to choose from! A little bit later, but also great: Some Like it Hot.
