Great Expectations '34 - Parts cut out

Movie girl: I am hoping someone can help me to retrieve the entire film. I love this version of Great Expectations '34. I taped it in the early 80's from a UHF channel. (Needing an extra VHS tape, I taped over it one day). The next time the film was on I taped it again, only to find that key things were cut out! Valerie Hobson who eventually played Estella in the '46 version was also in this film as Biddy the governess. I was shocked to see her parts cut out! I remembered seeing her in a scene with Pip and one with Estella. I even recall another scene with Estella and Miss Havisham that was cut out!

WHen the movie was available on professional VHS I bought the tape expecting to get the entire film, but I didn't. THe same thing happened a few years ago on DVD.

On a TCM Message Board I saw mention of Valerie being cut out of the film later, but no explanation. Someone actually replied to me saying that it is not explained, but mentioned in an AFI book. That person was surprised I got the complete film. So am I! Does anyone who happened to tape the film in the early 80's have this version uncut? it is much better with Valerie's scenes remaining.
Though Jane Wyatt was a lovely Estella in this film, I do think Biddy, Pip's governess, was important too!
I would so love to have the entire film. Is it possible that someone in their screening room showed the entire film in error just before it was cut? The film was released in '34 and I may have taped it in "83 or '84. Maybe 50 years after the fact they decided to cut the film? Clearly this is not someone who loves period pieces like myself. Thank you!
