The character of Blanche (spoilers)

She intrigued me the most. She seemed world weary and yet cared for Pierre. She was forever in a black dress that looked to be made of leather, smoking in a most sophisticated way. Nicolas said by coming here, I bought the right to wipe the slate clean. How true was this of, or for, Blanche I wonder.

Also her talent for reading the cards. Everything her characer predicted came true; the 9 of spades next to the 9 of diamonds equals death. At the end of the film her cards were all that she had left.
