What did you rate 'The Ghost Walks' (1934)?

I gave this a 2 (of 10) for the database. I hate these Cat and the Canary-style haunted house mysteries where arbitrary things happen for arbitrary reasons and no one behaves like an actual human being would in any of the situations presented to him.

I kept watching to the end for Richard Carle and Johnny Arthur as the theatrical producer and his fey assistant, in spite of the lines they had to read; and because I love creaky old talkies in general.

Watched it on youtube yesterday and I liked it in spite of the runaround plot and gave it a 4 out of 10. I love 'the old dark house" type of mysteries. This film reminded me of another film (can't recall the name of any castmembers) with a bunch of people in a boardinghouse, Someone is murdered. At the end we find out one of the guest was reading a story he wrote that included all of the people who lived in the house.

I hope to come across that boardinghouse thriller that you mention. I've rated 'The Ghost Walks' as 6/10. I didn't know where the plot was going to next after a number of characters began to mysteriously disappear. I reckon that this is an above-average country house thriller.
