Romantic barge scene goof?

Is it my imagination, or was an error made during the romantic barge scene?
After Antony and Cleopatra are hidden by the curtain, the galley slaves start to
row very slowly. Then, when the barge itself is seen, the oars seem to be still,
and the barge seems to be traveling on the Nile under its own power. Or did I
just miss something?

I noticed that same thing watching the DVD today.

Perhaps the oarsmen were having a post-coital cigarette.

A great scene. How they got it past the Hays Code is a mystery.

I noticed that, too! I also noticed Henry Wilcoxon looked a lot like Roger Federer.

If you look very carefully at the final shot of the barge sequence, you will definitely see that the ship's oars do move. If you are just looking at the overall scene, you may not notice it, but concentrate on the oars and you'll see them dip, move, rise etc. It's not likely DeMille would let something as simple as that slip by his eagle eye!

I must not be looking carefully enough, because I have watched this scene several times and still don't see it. I submitted this to IMDB as a goof, and they published it as a goof, so they must not see it either.

The big ship would have been a model. Hence, no rowing!

I know I'm late to this discussion, but I just watched the scene several times to check what you were saying, and the oars definitely move. If you look at the ends of the oars, you can clearly see them dip into the water twice during the scene before it fades. Not in wide arcs, but the oars are moving.
