This movie is a tear jerker

I loved Jane Darwell as the maid of the house. She has always been one of my favorites since she played in the Grapes of Wrath. If the guy who asked the questions would sit down and watch the movie, I do believe he would like it.

Have to agree. There is one scene in this movie that is just heartwrenchingly sad. I watched this film unaware of that scene. Caught me unexpectedly.

Skippy (1931) is a three handkerchief, but the lesser seen "Sooky" (also 1931) is a total watershed!

Although it does have the classic, upbeat, ON THE GOOD SHIP LOLLIPOP.

Agree... my nose blocked thru out this movie!!!

Here I sit, all alone on Christmas with my childhood best friend in her most touching film and I'm a blubbery mess. This has always been one of my favourite movies. Nearly eighty years after it's release, and nearly twenty years since it made an impact on my life, it remains a lovely film and infinitely better than the atrocities that children watch today. Merry Christmas, Shirley.

Eighty years on and still going strong. Shirley will be entertaining audiences for another 80 years, I bet.

Almost ninety now, but so true. RI P Jane Withers. I have the option of watching the original B&W, or colorized version. I have heard about this movie for years. I did not know it was the one with the famous lollipop song.
