Filming Locations

Does anyone know if the filming location listed as Big Pines, CA (Los Angeles County on SR-2) is correct?

I wonder if it should be Big Pine, CA (Inyo County on US-395)?

I was surprised to see that too - have been in the area a few times - and it would seem to be Big Pine. Big Pines is up in the National Forest and didn't see that kind of landscape and forst growth anywhere in film.

Big Pines was part of the scene in Feb '13 where the 'cop gone his own way' was trapped - SR-2 being the main route around which much happened - and I suppose Big Pines was the eastern terminus of the blockade.

The location is: Lone Pine, 350 miles north of LA on the east side of the Sierra. Hundred & hundreds & hundreds of B Westerns were filmed there. 35 of the 66 Hopalong Cassidy films were shot in Lone Pine including the 1st one. Lone Pine really is 'Hoppy Country'. I've been there many times an expect Hoppy to ride out any minute. Go see it. You'll be hooked. Up hwy 395, in the middle of no where. It's great! John Mack Flanagan The Buckaroo

PS The very best time to visit Lone Pine is around Columbus Day in October. Every year there's the Lone Pine Film Festival. They honor the B Cowboys of the 1930's and 40's. This year (2015) the festival will be October 9th, 10th and 11th 2015. I hope to attend. 20 years since my 1st visit to Lone Pine, and my last film festival was 2011. Majestic place! Nice people. The people of Lone Pine are very welcoming. Always make you feel at home, and that place is georgeus!! Mountains! (Mt. Whitney) Rocks (Alabama Hills) Desert, cactus (Joshua Trees) wide open spaces! Think you'll like it, I do. John
