shareWatched it for the first time this weekend, and was really surprised and impressed.
Was surprised how dark it was for the time it was made. The dance by Burgess surprised me too.
I know excellent movie right ? It was also my very first time watching this one too . It did seem very ahead of it's time and a wonderfully dark & eerie classic for 1934 . Fay Wray and Dorothy Burgess definitely stole the show on this already awesome storyline flick . Interesting that these old movies got right to the point in such a short time . The movie was only 1 hour and 8 minutes long . They just don't make them like this anymore . Thanks beavertoof for your reply .
shareI really thought Dorothy Burgess was incredible in this. She really seemed totally into doing the part and was pretty convincing.
I like the way women dressed and looked in the 30's/40's too. I thought Dorothy was pretty darn hot in this, and loved the brief scene in her nearly see through top.
I wish I had time and means to watch everything available along the lines of this movie.
Totally agree beavertoof . I also loved the styles of dress from the 1930's & 40's - very uptown and classy . Dorothy Burgess and Fay Wray were both very beautiful ladies as well as very talented actresses . This movie is definitely a rare gem for it's time . I'm so glad it's still On-Demand all this month . Another good movie On-Demand this month too is " The Black Room " from 1935 with legendary actor Boris Karloff , Marian Marsh ( another beautiful and talented actresses ) , and Thurston Hall . This movie is also 1 hour and 8 minutes long .

shareCatching up with you and beavertoof today. Gotta say that overall I liked it, although I did break up over that "The natives are restless" line! There were some genuinely tense scenes, and I found it interesting that they gave Juanita a legitimate gripe on behalf of the natives while yet showing how horrifying she had become in her identification with them.

Another awesome movie with Boris Karloff that's also On-Demand this month is " Before I Hang " from 1940 ( and is 1 hour 4 minutes long and I also posted that one on it's own board ) . shareI most definitely recommend that one too beavertoof ! I believe it's still up on FEARNET On-Demand . If by some weird chance it's not I will keep my eye on the schedule for the FEARNET Channel and put up a schedule subject post for that movie on it's own IMDB Board . Alot of times it will still be on the channel itself even if it expires On-Demand . I do check On-Demand from time to time to see what's still up there and what is gone ( now you see it now you don't ? lol ) .
