Question

Is there any way to get a black and white version of this movie. I have the Goodtimes DVD its only in color. The DVD is pretty good though, it even has a few bonus features Laurel home movies from 1961 (A very short clip (silent)) and a Hardy interview from 1950 about how he got the nickname "Babe". I just wish Goodtimes gave a choice of color or Black & white like VCI did for the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. That said I still love the movie!!!

you can probably find it on cdnow.com

Just turn the color off (check your TV manual to find picture control or something like that) on your TV, that's what we do when we want to watch a colorized version of a movie in B&W. It still looks good.

Try the German www.amazon.de. I have all the dvd's in the Kinowelt-series. The quality is excellent.

As previously stated, the quaility is excellent. The company Kirch Group, (released by the Kinowelt company) lovingly restored these classic films and shorts into outstanding presentations. Each film on dvd also contains several short subjects. There are also dvd`s that only contain the short subjects. They are region code 2, includes the soundtracks in german and english. The subtitles are only in german :-( For what you get, restored film and excellent quality, the euro price is a steal. I can highly recommend these releases.

There is a DVD from Passport that is in black and white, although it has been determined that this is just the colorized version with the color turned off. Basically, its good if you don't want to have to manually adjust the color controls on the colorized version. This particular disc also includes the short LUCKY DOG, which was the first on-screen appearance of Laurel and Hardy in the same film.
