Wunderbar!!

I just had the pleasure of seeing this little gem, and I have to say that it was wonderful! I found myself laughing out loud with many of the scenes. Renate Müller as Susanne/Viktoria and Hermann Thimig as Viktor were terrific, and Anton Walbrook as Robert was absolutely charming. Apparently it's not an easy movie to come across, but I highly recommend it to anyone who does manage to find it. The version that I saw had English subtitles, but they weren't very good. Just enough to give you an idea of what they were talking about. But, if you know the story, and have seen the 1982 version, you should be able to follow it even without any help. Wundervoll!

The movie was rather too silly for my tastes. How could anyone think she was a real man, especially with all that make-up! But I was mostly annoyed with the singing. I have no problem with musicals, but it this movie the singing was very bad and totally random. It was more like they were reciting poems.
