Too obvious

SPOILER:

I thought the killers identity was way way too easy to guess right from the start.
Why, you ask. Well, in the beginning, before the painting is stolen, its owner, whose name escapes me, upon revealing the painting says "Sorry to make an old friend jealous". Then, a while later, you hear Drake talking about the dead person as his friend.

Other points about this film:
They never explain how Drake manages to turn off the lights in the aeroplane.

The two fumbling cops joke gets old really quick. Personally I thought they were annoying as hell after the first 10 minutes.

Good to say hi to the only other person who has watched this film, and to give you a shock someone has replied to your post.

Nothing much to add to your comment. Yes, I too decided Drake was the obvious killer. With the exception of one short period when I suspected Drake was about to be the next vitim. stuck by it to the end.

Still, as a standard B movie of the period, interesting..

few visible scars

Henderson was responsible for the lights in the plane; how Drake manages to persuade him to do so is best ignored.

An example of "who killed the chauffeur?" in The Big Sleep - there's no answer as it wasn't written into the devilishly clever screenplay.

"Wow. Our town has only had a Whole Foods for three weeks and we already have our first gay kids."
