Nightclub vocalist

Anybody know who the male singer was in the nightclub scene? He introduced "Honolulu Baby" and moved with the grace of hip gazelle!

Your question has been answered by Randy Skretvedt's great book on the boys, "Laurel and Hardy: The Magic Behind the Movies". He identifies the gentleman singing "Honolulu Baby" as "...crooner Ty Parvis, one-time dancing partner to Betty Grable."

A quick glimpse of Parvis' entry here on IMDb reveals that he didn't enjoy an extensive career, at least on film. There are only two other credits for him, and one of those seems unconfirmed. Too bad that his contribution to "Honolulu Baby", and to "Sons of the Desert", both of which were very successful, didn't propel him to greater success too.

I too thought he really stole the show in that sequence, and its unfortunate that there is relatively no information on Mr. Parvis. Perhaps in Betty Grable's bio there is mention of him. Anyway, he was a great performer.
