but you gotta admit, the fight scenes rule!

this movie was weak storywise,
but the fight scenes between son of kong
and the bear, and the dinos, and that
lizard creature, kick ass!

reply

Yeah, I don't care what people say. Kong Jr. kicks ass. That fight between little Kong and the Cave Bear was awesome. It was almost as good as the Kong T.Rex fight.

(Tiffany) You mean you weren't going to ask me to marry you?
(Chucky) What are you *beep* NUTS!

Yeah, but what a way to go ! Why couldn't they just let baby Kong swim away? If they did, it would have explained King Kong VS Godzilla!

reply

The serpent fight was too short, about 40 seconds in length, but the bear fight was good.

"Attempted murder? Now honestly, what is that? Do they give a Nobel Prize for attempted chemistry?"

reply

Personally I thought this movie, while not as good as the original classic, was still pretty good, and was definately well made.

Star Wars Episode IV.V: The Holiday Special.

Yeah. It was great to get back to Skull Island!!

I love the Styracosaur & bear scenes!

If it hadn't been made or completed I think quite a few Kong fans would still be mourning the loss (as I do over Creation, War Eagles, Primevals, etc).

reply

If the film hadn't been made, I definitely think that it would have a certain aura or mistique about it like Creation and War Eagles. The film also had a dinosaur stampede and tribal war planned. The film is arguably quite lacking without those two highlights, but I could just imagine how inspired Son of Kong would sound on paper if it were never green-lighted and the fans were to assume that those highlights would have been in there. Even now, it's interesting to think of what Son of Kong could have been if given most of the time and money allotted during the creation of King Kong. Maybe we would have gotten the film with the tribal war and stampede or perhaps they would have come up with something entirely different. We'll never know.

Well said Skye...

Thank you.

Skye I completely agree...This movie had the potential to be another classic like the original, but due to the things you mentioned it is now really a lesser classic, though I still regard it highly. Possibly a cult classic???

i got the first king kong one on vhs many years ago, says on the scandinavian dvd of this i got that this sequel was lost for 80 years, amazing picture quality on the dvd, gosh women had ugly hats in the 1930's, kongs eyes looked really funny, i was surprised to see it was set in a comedic tone, the creatures looks like toys children play with, but the creature coming out of the water looked scary, interesting to see how this was made, so long before jurassic park and i recently saw the king kong version from 2005.

where past and future collide,
i got catapulted out,
to a future unclear,
you got to meet me there,
or ill be too lost,
clinged on long as i could,
until the old world came to a blast,
now theres nothing left and no turning back,
take my hand darlin and lead me there to a new path.
