Have you seen this great Movie

I have and it is superbly acted by Irene Dunne. Deep and some parts are hard to understand because of being made in 1933. A must see, I have the DVD if you have a hard time finding it.

I haven't seen it, but really want to and I've been looking for it for quite awhile. I keep hoping that it will be shown on TCM. Irene Dunne is one of my favorite actresses. I have many of her films on dvd and would love to add it to my ever growing collection. From reading the comments for the film, it sounds very intriguing and it also sounds as though Laura Hope Crews gives a compelling performance, a huge departure from her usual roles.

Its showing tonight (or rather tomorrow morning) on Australian Tv at 3:10 am which is, at the time of typing, just under four hours away.

Hopefully, I'll be up and awake. I'm looking forward to it.

Hi mushy,
I caught this movie last night on the ABC at 2.40am (maybe they repeat it every 3 years!). I do stay up very late but I usually go to bed at about the time it started. Once it started I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I had to watch it til the end, the acting all round was superb, even if the younger brother had a few 'hammy' scenes. And as a bonus I just read on here that Joel and Frances met on this movie. Too bad they weren't paired up! HA HA

I've only seen it once and that was several years ago. I think that it was shown on Turner Classic Movies, but it could have been shown on AMC back when AMC was a commercial-free classic movie network.

I'm a fan of both Irene Dunne and Joel McCrea, and thought they were both so good in this film.

I love this film! I have it on DVD but it's a very bad print that abruptly stops about three-quarters through. But I have seen the entire film on TV and I love it!

I was an actor once, dammit! Now look at me. LOOK at me!

For all too brief a time I had a VHS knock-off of this fine film, a skillful re-write of the play, but it was lost when I lent to a film-historian with small children. I have been looking for it for years. As a writer, I very much enjoy comparing it with the play.

If you are so fortunate to see it, watch the subtle anguish of the frightful mother, played by Laura Hope Crews, who created the part in the 1920's on Broadway. But an even finer performance, argueably her finest, is Frances Dee as Hester, who hysterically unravels before our eyes, her gown shredded with dispair.

Where, oh where, can I find a DVD?
