Canutt's famous stunt

The stunt of jumping from one's mount to a wagon team, then falling to the ground, avoiding the team's hooves, grabbing the wagon's tongue a moment before releasing it so the wagon passes over, is that of Yakima Canutt, standing in for Lon Chaney Jr. Canutt as the trivia column notes injured his shoulder doing it. It is about the same stunt he performed years later in "Stagecoach." That being the far more famous movie explains why the stunt is lauded in it instead of "Scarlet River," but it gives the impression that it was first performed in "Stagecoach."
