I just watched this on TCM and liked it a lot. Yeah, it's 1933 corny and the editing is not perfect, but JW's very good in it and Miss Sally's pretty cute.
Also, I noticed that many of the actors in this film are just as tall as 6'4" JW if not taller. But at that time, pre-CG and advanced editing tricks, I guess you had to be big and tough to survive the stunts they had to do.

Saw it myself for the first time as part of a 25-film-on-4-DVD pack, The John Wayne Tribute Collection, that I found used for $3 Canadian. 7/10. Fun seeing him develop his style and try out roles different than what would become his norm as he became famous.
