This film was made before Wayne and Canutt came up with the idea of knocking two pieces of wood together to highlight the punches on the soundtrack. As a result the fisticuffs are "silent" and make it appear as if their punches were, in the words of one reviewer "girlish". It's like they were slapping each other.
shareI just ran across this and watched a few minutes. I really noticed the lack of sound on the sound track. The fisticuffs look like they're from a silent movie.
The part I ran into was nothing but shooting, gun smoke, and horses racing around. They loved going through that tunnel -- must have done it five times.
And then there's the good guys -- flick your wrist holding a pistol and a far distant bad guy falls off his horse.
