Count Magnus must die!

He's a baddy. I say we lynch him. Who's with me?

The good people always die...

God, I'm glad I'm not me.

Magnus was a vindictive mo-fo.

If there was a real guy the character was based on, I hope he got his just desserts.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

My only complaint about this movie is that there was no way I was going to be happy about the ending. If Antonio hadn't died, it wouldn't have worked for me, but having Magnus survive was dreadful, too. Ah, if only they could have both died in a way that wasn't completely contrived.

Didn't he, though? My impression was that Antonio killed Magnus, but was mortally wounded in the process, mainly because he was still alive when she arrived on the ship and I would have thought Magnus would have finished him off if he'd been able.

I agree but the problem with the ending is why Magnus felt the need to duel after Christina abdicated. Was it honor? He was after something he was never going to get either way; why risk his life?

I don't get it. I figured he had it in for Antonio but, according to events in the movie, Magnus created the situation that caused her to have to go in the direction she did. I thought he'd just ambush him to get back at Christina. That's not what happened but the end result was the same.
