Best. Divorce. EVER.

Not Henry's first one, but the one from Anne of Cleves, very neatly negotiated in this film by Lanchester and Laughton. Granted, money was no obstacle to these parties coming to amicable parting terms, but the sharp high spirits and the brevity with which the deal is concluded are just great! Family counselors should watch this scene as part of their training.

just watched it...smiled from ear to ear lol. Wonder if the real AOC was this clever and knew how to 'work' crazy old Hank like this LOL .

Lanchester was Laughton's wife, which would explain their chemistry.

the real Anne of Clerves accepted the situation with dignity, but wasn't particularly pleased to be divorced. After Henry had catherine Howard executed, she apprently hoped he would remarry her, and was rather piqued when he married catherine Parr.

That part is the highlight of the film! Lanchester was brilliant.
