Computer-colorized versions?
I wonder if Turner ever considered computer-colorizing the black-and-white Popeye shorts after the WB merger. They certainly would have looked better than the 1988 hand-drawn versions.

sharePart of what made the original b&w cartoons great was that they were done without being cgi. Turner's abominations lost the 3-D effect that the Fleischer studio achieved with out the aid of a computer.
Colorizing these cartoons was as bad as colorizing some of the classics of film noir.
computer-colorizations preserve the quality of the original animation
look at what Warner did with the B&W Looney Tunes in the early 1990s. They one-upped themselves by using a computer to colorize them, rather than the redraw method in the late 60s.
Just watch a redrawn version and a corresponding comp-colorized version side by side. you will be amazed at the difference.
