Heather Angel--miscast? (for those who've seen the film)

While it's obvious that tha actress who plays Suzanne (Heather Angel) isn't French, I'm thinking more of her manner and voice: she projects the image of a young debutante.

I wonder if others feel that she undermines the dynamics of the story? If she brought something earthy or racy to the part we could understand why Gary fell in love; instead her behavious seems exactly what his socialite mother would want for her son.

This is a minor quibble, because I find the film most powerful and moving. Marian Nixon and Lucille La Verne give superb performances, but maybe the effect of the film rests a little too much on the astonishing tour de force of its leading actress (Henrietta Crossman).
