A Must for Loy Fans

As films go, this one is not all that spectacular. It's certainly not as entertaining as any of the 6 Thin Man films. However, for fans of Myrna Loy, this film is required viewing. Young, fresh, and saucy in a way that wouldn't be allowed less than 2 years later. I have always been amazed that this wonderful talent was never even nominated for an Academy Award.

Regarding The Production Code.....several who wrote reviews have a misunderstanding of when it began. The Code was created in 1930, long-before this film was made. However, it wasn't actively enforced until July 1, 1934.

This is the movie that made Myrna Loy. She usually played nasty characters like Ursula Georgi in '13 Women.'i disagree when you say this is is not a great movie. Gertie Waxted was basically am early version of Eleanor in Manhattan Melodrama a year later. The scenes between the butler Layton ( Charles Butterworth) of the main star Jackson Durant ( Warner Baxter) are priceless. Some of the best Myrna moments in her career.
