I don't exactly understand why Mimi gets shot.

I've watched this terrific movie multiple times (I own a DVD of it), but really don't quite understand why Mimi gets murdered. She wasn't an enemy of anyone, was she? Nor was the blonde young former boyfriend?

It was revenge against both of them. Earlier, she had left Crelliman for Siddall, so Crelliman pretended to take her back only long enough to set both of them up: her to be murdered, and him to take the rap.
