Did the pig get killed?

After Gary Cooper wins the 'catch the pig' contest, he walks over to Amy holding it at his side by its hind legs. She remarks that it's a nice little pig. But it isn't squirming around, just hanging there limp. Was it killed during the contest? I wasn't paying close attention. Thanks.

there is no reason to assume that it was killed; greased pigs were often young, spry and simply caught.

and i'm sure that a prop was much more agreeable for the dialogue takes, since a *squeeling ham* is never welcome on ANY motion picture set (the ham being human or not).
