What zoo?

Does anyone happen to know at which zoo the exteriors for this film were shot? It looks way to real - especially that main gate - for it to have been merely a backlot set.

It's been some time since you asked, but I'd not seen the film until now. I dug around looking to find and answer to the same question you asked.

It most certainly is a real zoo and I'm inclined to think it was the Selig Zoo that was located in East Los Angeles. The Selig Zoo's famous "Elephant Gate" is not in evidence but that makes sense since it was supposed to be a "Municipal Zoo" and not any specific zoo other than that.

Across from the Selig Zoo was an Alligator Farm and that may have been used for one of the more gruesome scenes in Murders in the Zoo

The Los Angeles Zoo, another likely location was opened in 1912 and, at the time, was situated nearby the Selig.

I'd have to watch the movie again to make a claim without any doubt.

Please respond If you have figured it out yourself, Gangsteroctopus. Thanks.
