In Praise of Joan Bennett

Just LOVED her in this!! I've seen her in her later roles in films such as "Father of the Bride" and "There's Always Tomorrow" but it was so nice to see her so young- I love the part where Jo is trying to show her how to act and she flails her arms around the place before fainting on the couch... She really captured the essence of the young AND old Amy. :)

Agreed. She was an exceptional actress.

I think it's the only time two actresses, Joan Bennett and Elizabeth Taylor, played the same role in two different versions of the same movie and later played mother and daughter in the same movie, FATHER OF THE BRIDE.

LOL, loved that "rehearsal" scene, too. Hilarious!

She was great in this, as well as very beautiful. Certainly, did a great job as the shallow Amy.

She has a great voice. Ended her career on "Dark Shadows."
