Well, I think Katharine Hepburn overplayed Jo a bit, but I still love this movie.

Overplayed her a bit? There was more ham in that performance than at Cracker Barrel.

The phrase "Chrisopher Columbus" plays a role in the book- revealing something about Jo. It was equivalent to swearing in those days- and women were not supposed to use any strong expressions.
