I watched " Lady for a Day" for the first time yesterday.
I was so engaged into the movie...then came into play the character " Happy McGuire"... not to forget mention of Dave the Dude.
Omg I almost fell out of bed. His Words " Happy McGuire" when he said - with his quirky 'stand still Tin monotone voice"
As he met the butler within the " Hotel" Apt. Happy says to the unaware butler upon greeting him. "Don't go around assuming too much it will get you into trouble..Then he says " Come here a minute". The butler is only foot away. Happy than quips " I want to tell you something that will probably upset the rest of your day" ..........oh Snap. What a great actor.

Yes, he was wonderful. So many of the old movies had actors like him, who could make a picture that extra something by just a few words.

My favorite line of his is the one about his wife, when Dave thinks of having him post as Annie's wife. That voice, too.
