A bettere version

"Pocket Full of Miracles" is a much better version of this interesting tale.
Glenn Ford as Dutch & Her Highness Bette Davis plays Apple Annie who is promoted to a lady of royalty. I believe the theme song won the Oscar for this
1961 movie. u can look up the rest here on IMDB

The theme song from Pocketful of Miracles did not win the Oscar®. The winner that year was "Moon River" from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Well, I can't just call out "Oh, butler", can I? Somebody's name may be "Butler"!

I believe both movies are really good. Also, in 1933, this movie had more positive value than in 1961

In every conceivable way, Lady For a Day was the better film. Pocketful was good, and I am a devoted Davis fan, but.....the truth is the truth. I'm not sure why Capra was compelled to remake this film.

You betcha!

What I don't buy in either film is Apple Annie being Louise's mother. Grandmother made more sense. May Robson was 75 when this was released while Jean Parker who played the daughter was only 18!

In the remake 'Pocketful of Miracles' (1961), Bette Davis was 53 while Ann-Margret was 20. Not as much of an age gap as the other 2 but Davis looked much older.
