The Giant Spider Scene

I heard that got edited out because it disturbed audiences too much 81 years ago. That scene is supposed to be "lost" somewhere. Too bad it was never found. Would be interesting to see.

It was reconstructed on the DVD/Blu Ray by Peter Jackson. I don't think it's any great loss. There were already enough dinosaurs and monsters and critters to go around.

Peter Jackson's reconstruction can be viewed on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SOMKnhN7ABs.

The spider pit scene starts at 2 minutes 55.

Some stills survived. Do an image search for Spider scene in King Kong.

That would definitely have been an awesome scene had it been left in the movie but I find it very difficult to believe that those men could have survived that fall.

If you have a hi quality TV, when the sailors are falling off the log, there is a rock on the bottom corner of the screen. There is very clearly a large spider on the rock however it doesn't move. This is not a plot hole because spiders many times sit still for long amounts of time. However when the last sailor falls to his death, the rock with the spider has moved to the opposite corner of your screen
