Inspiration for several scenes in National Lampoon's Animal House??

I was watching this Our Gang short today and, during the scene where Bumbo (the "wild man") is raiding the refrigerator, I noted the resemblence of several of his actions to those of the "Bluto" character in "Animal House." Could this episode have been the inspiration?
