Staring Lon Chaney Jr?

Anyone else have the new UK dvd with Lon Chaney Jr. above the title? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Lon Chaney Jr. isn't in the movie!

If I recall correctly, he played the Invisible Man in one of the sequels. It seems like a lot of very old movies have wrong DVD covers. Like The Phantom of the Opera (1925) where the girl on the cover doesn't appear in the movie, too.

Lon Chaney Jr never played The Invisible Man...nor did he
ever appear in any of the Invisible Man flicks.

That UK cover is a mistake.

Here are all the actors who played the Invisible Man in each Universal Film:

The Invisible Man (1933) - Claude Rains
The Invisible Man Returns (1940) - Vincent Price
The Invisible Agent (1942) - Jon Hall
The Invisible Man's Revenge (1944) - Jon Hall
Abbott & Costello Meet The Invisible Man (1951) - Arthur Franz

I bought this film off of Amazon.co.uk the other day and was ver surprised to to see Lon Chaney jr. on The cover! Someone obviously got mixed up between 'the INVISIBLE Man' and 'The WOLF Man'.

"Seeking No Truth, Winning Is All, Find it So Grim, So True, So Real."

Now...an Invisible wolf Man? THAT would be a movie to see!

reply

True, Chaney was never in an Invisible Man movie. But the Invisible Man was in a Chaney movie! Voiced by Vincent Price again in Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein, which starred Chaney as his signature Wolf Man role.

Well Lon Chaney Jr. almost certainly saw The Invisible Man, so if he really liked it, at some point he was probably staring at it.

Surely you mean starring...
I haven't seen Lon Chaney staring at anyone.

I know this isn't what the topic was actually about but I really can't imagine Lon Chaney in the role. Though it's because the only movies I ever saw him in were his Wolf Man movies, Son of Dracula, and Of Mice and Men (not counting his role as the monster in Ghost of Frankenstein). He's so normal in the way he acts in those films that it's hard to see him going, "I am invisible! People will bow down before me and admire my greatness! I will rule the world!"
