Similiar film

I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm trying to find a film that was made about the same time as International House. The plot had different people trying to get to one destination. It kept cutting from one character to another as they tried to get to the final destination. I do not remember where they were trying to go. I know W. C. fields was in it but I'm not sure of the other characters. At the time I watched it it seemed very disconnected but that may have been me (it was in the 60's). The one scene that I remember (I think) has Fields on a ship and he opens a door, goes through it, and ends up on a golf course. Other things like this happen throughout the film. It kept jumping from one group of characters to another, all trying to get to ???.
I thought it was International House but I just watched that film and it didn't ring a bell. I really hope I'm not imagining everything and such a film really exists.

You're thinking of "The Big Broadcast of 1938", with Bob Hope, Dorothy Lamour and Martha Raye (as Fields' disaster-prone daughter).

The plot is about two luxury liners racing to reach Cherbourg, France (I think the final destination is correct).

Fields plays twins, the owner of the shipping line and his own brother - a passenger on it.

This was but one installment of "Big Broadcast" films.

"Don't call me 'mac'... HONEY!"
