Cary Grant towers over Mae West in this movie. Literally.

In this movie, Grant clearly towers over West in their scenes together. At first I thought it was one of those fakey movie illusions often done on sets in Hollywood films whereby they would perch the leading man on a carefully hidden riser so as to make him dominate the female lead. But I just discovered that Mae West's height is given as 5'-1", and Cary Grant's height is given as 6'-1 1/2", making it clear that this was no stage trickery going on: Grant really was a good head taller than Mae West.

Miss West wore up to 5" heels ( which helped to create her famous walk) which were covered by her long dresses that often had a train. This is the only film in which she wore slacks and you can see her heels when she rides into the arena on the elephant.

I noticed that too and how they had the front of her pants legs tacked onto her platforms so you wouldn't get a glimpse of her specially made shoes within a shoe.
