Busby Berkley is a genius

What a spectacular water scene at the end of the movie. A highlight of Busby Berkeley's ingenuity. They just don't and can't make movies like this anymore. This water choreography still holds up today.

I can definitely see where June Taylor got her inspiration from.

Indeed. But imagine being in the theatrical audience that's depicted in the movie -- there's no way they would be able to see all of the "onstage" kaleidoscopic sights that can only be seen on a film screen.

Thank goodness no one really thought seriously about forcing practical realistic limitations on the old musicals. I think Fred and Ginger, and a few others performed in stage shows that could never have been presented in an auditorium of any size. All part of the movie/TV world where physics and probability, and reality are not as important. TV sets have gotten better, but we remember the huge spare floor Mary Richards rented. Jerry Seinfeld's refrigerator blocking the hall except when he's out in the hall. Then it retracts. The platform area onto which the front door opens is so common in TV NY apartments and old homes. Only a few real houses have such a raised area.
Got off topic. It would be stupid in a real normal house/apt.
