Ugh---- *spoilers*

Way back then, I guess this was quite a titillating film~~~a woman (*gasp*) as head of a giant automobile factory, running things just like a man supposedly would, with sexuality in over-drive (was this supposed to be "like a man", too?), a voracious appetite for men and power, then, sick of it all, she decides to become The Little Woman, eager to give over her entire industry to a lowly employees she's seen to be chasing all over creation, (notice she has to best him even then, in a shooting game) and agreeing to give the new boss a pile of children and be his hausfrau. Yuck....

The staging was eye-popping, beautiful people, gowns, furnishings, etc., but ugly and unfulfilling (we are to believe) in reality, I feel the message being "Ma'am, you have no business here---get back home and put your apron on and let the menfolk do the thinking around here". Of course, the only person who can get away with murder around the boss-lady is a small, meek, homely Englishman, who flirts with all the girls, pours the boss' tea and makes silly remarks. OK, I'm done now......

At first I was frustrated with the ending too. But I've been thinking about it, especially the thing Thorne said about her being four different women. To me the real Alison is the CEO and the gal bringing home the guys for "meetings". If there had been an epilogue or 2 years later thing at the end, I think it would have shown her back at work. She would have gotten bored and frustrated with Thorne and acting the way she thought he wanted her to be.

reply

I was frustrated by the ending because he didn't ask her to give up running the company; she gave it to him and told him she'd be raising children. What was up with that? She'd never shown the slightest interest in children up to that point!

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

Ugh is right. When that man said a woman should not run a co. I about screamed. It was the times then but the ending still was bad.

It kind of makes you wonder how "pathetic" people were that they needed the "happy ending" of a woman taking herself down a notch or two. Why couldn't she be ambitious and put her job above being a breeder?

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

So it's more important to you that she make cars rather than babies and a home for her family. What would have been a happy ending in your view or are you saying go with a non-happy ending? Perhaps she could have been shown making a big deal with the bankers to save her ailing company or maybe losing the company, having no life and flinging herself from her office window. Who doesn't love a movie that ends like that?

Woman, man! That's the way it should be Tarzan. [Tarzan and his mate]

Yeah, it was ridiculous. A huge step backwards.

Someone please tell us what would have been a good ending for this movie since so many of you think the one it has is so bad. Tell us something that would have represented a step forward; what you would have liked to have seen. I honestly would love to know.
