Film Name?

Any ideas about why this film is named Double Harness? Great movie!

Maybe because horses in double harness pull better together than one would alone?

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

I thought it was because marriage harnesses two people together. She sort of trapped him into marriage but then their being harnessed together ended up being a good thing for them both.

While not in much use today, the term "double harness" was commonly used in the first few decades of the 20th century to refer to the marriage bond. You can catch a quick glimpse of the words being used in Kay Francis's film of 1933, "Mary Stevens, MD." In describing her failed marriage to her father, Thelma Todd's character says, "We just don't pull together in double harness."
