'My flowers' quote

At the end of the scene where Ann Harding first comes up to Wm Powell's apartment they kiss and she exclaims "My flowers!" and then fade to black--end of scene. Great double entendre. It leaves much to the imagination and avoids the vulgarity so common in many modern movies.

I thought the same thing. She's being "deflowered" as it were.

Although I liked the film, I did miss Powell's jaunty insouciance. He was someone more straight here.

Am I anywhere near the imaginary cliff?

reply

Agree. I liked the double entendre and thought the words terribly romantic!

I love that he didn't give a darn about crushing those flowers......and crush them he did......they complete disappeared in that embrace! Does make you wonder, imagine, or suspect what actually happens next...so romantic and.......so sexy!

"OOhhhooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

Ohhhhh, good catch! I didn't think of the metaphor. It makes perfect sense!
