10/10 - this is one of the most legendary films of the 1930's! It has one of the best casts ever and probably the best ever female cast outside of GONE WITH THE WIND and THE WOMEN - Jean Harlow, Marie Dressler, Billie Burke, Karen Morley, May Robson, Madge Evans, Louise Closser Hale, Hilda Vaughn.

reply

You have to say that - your SN is Harlow.

reply

Maybe so but some of the acting by legends of the acting world were pretty bad in this: John and Lionel Barrymore! Billie Burke was shouting her lines but this was probably due to technical issues with the sound. Wallace Beery was always the same and probably just himself. The best scenes were Harlow's.

reply

Marie Dressler was great as well.

reply

Marie Dressler was a huge, huge, huge star back in the day. She was so droll in this movie. "Listen, dear, I know men. I should, it's been my life's work."

What was wrong with John Barrymore's? I thought it was very good in this. In fact, this part mirrored what he became.

reply

9/10 just because I can't stand people who let their little dogs mess on the carpets!

Please put some dashes above your sig line so I won't think it's part of your dumb post.

I agree too. I thought that most of the acting was fabulous especially the Barrymores. However, the movie itself is depressing. We are watching the lives of all of these people crumble - nothing pleasant in any of it.
