Gay and lesbian sequence

I'm guessing that this is the first Best Picture winner -- and it was pre-Code -- to have explicit scenes of a gay couple and a lesbian couple caressing; it's 12 minutes before the movie is over, at a nightclub. So in this respect, it was groundbreaking.
