I Enjoyed The Film. But Blu-Ray Disc Image Quite Disappointing.
this is one of the few of the 85 best picture winners i had never seen.
i enjoyed it old fashioned melodramatic plot structure. people who in
2013 criticize this film for being stuffy etc..... must remember this film
was probably considered the height of film making in 1933. i have seen
very very few films from the early 30s that as good as they are don't
have that old fashioned hokey quality to them.
also since the blu-ray disc is being released for the film's 80th
anniversary you would think that 20th Century Fix Home Video would
have completely restored/remastered the print before doing the HD
transfer. again i enjoyed the film's melodramatic hokeyness but the
image quality was one of the most disappointing blu-ray discs EVER.
it looks like you're watching a regular dvd on a blu-ray player.
