Different Character

I first saw Stanwyck as an elder dame in charge of THE BIG VALLEY. She was a nice old, but firm and stern grandmother type.

However, it's like seeing another person in this old film. One of the great actresses of the 20th. I never knew this as a kid. Glad to see these old "lost" films are "found" again...sometimes. If the money's right and TCM wants it.

Glad to see this one. A great period piece. The home of my Great Grandparents was adorned with furniture and trappings similar to those in the film when I was a kid. Truly a throw-back house of the 20s and 30s.

I'm coming to realize some of the best films came out of the 20s 30s 40s 50s. After that, there are still great films, but they are different. The old ones have that period piece thing going for them. Like watching a small bit of history.

John Wayne (as an old man) has been on all yesterday. In this one, he was young!

Great as she was on THE BIG VALLEY, the small screen Stanwyck cannot compare to the magnificent movie star she was in the 1930s, 1950s, and especially the 1940s when she was probably the best in the business. If you are just discovering Stanwyck the movie star you have a lot of great films ahead of you if you check them out.
