So, what happened to Jerry?

Near the end, when he left the mother's house after he confessed his love for Stella in front of his family, where did he go? I guess it never gives a clue to that, but did anyone else think he might have been suicidal after she did not recipricate his love in front of the family? I am worried about our buddy Jerry...he seems a little fragile..LOL
