'Wizard of Oz' Benefited From This Film

The makers of "The Wizard of Oz" (1939) took serious note of this film and learned from it--about what NOT to do. Paramount's star-studded cast was unrecognizable in their costumes, a problem the folks at MGM were determined to rectify with their film.

I think design and story wise there were somethings they learned top do right like research and read the material your movie is based on. also what Illustrations were used in the book your movie is based on.

Yeah, and there were similarities such as familiar things from the character's everyday life taking on a dreamlike aspect in Wonderland/Oz, which was part of the original Alice books but not part of the book of The Wizard of Oz.
