Kind of like watching a book

I think it's rather charming.

I agree. The director and art director decided to stick to Tenniel's illustrations and the events in both books

For me, the fact that they did such a wonderful job bringing Tenniel's illustrations to life makes this worth watching. Of course, it misses nearly all of Carroll's sly poltical subtexts, but no Alice film I've seen hasn't. As a kid, I always preferred Through the Looking Glass to Wonderland, and was happy to see that my favorite scene from the book - the opening one in which Alice enters the room on the other side of the mirror - was included, even if it was from Through the Looking Glass and not Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

That was how I felt about it. One of the better adaptations.
