WORST movie I have EVER seen!

Even worse than Ed Wood movies (which I love).

Horrendous acting, bad editing, bad camera work, incoherent story.

A real stinkerooski!

you're an idiot

I disagree. This is a classic.

If it harms none, do what thou wilt.

Yes....
Anyone who says this movie is the worst ever really needs to see more movies. This film DOES suffer from falling into public domain, which means there doesn't seem to be a really good clean print out there. Every time I've seen it, it's always a horrible print... Like it's been sitting at the bottom of the sea....
But it's STILL a good film.

Trust me,

My, you're nosey, aren't you?

A good print showing now on TCM on Halloween.

The credits of the recent TCM broadcast indicate that it's been restored, but there is still the occasional jump (missing frames?), and the sound quality is poor (very low volume for much of the dialogue).

The acting is dated, but Lugosi and the zombies are fun to watch. The editing and camera work are creative and interesting. The story is quite coherent.

Just out of curiosity, how many movies have you seen? You must not have seen very many if this is the absolute worst you've seen.

Come, fly the teeth of the wind. Share my wings.

Nonsense you couldn't be more wrong, this is a lost classic horror film & it's right up there with "Dracula" & "Frankenstein" & compliments them both. "White Zombie" is someways better than the big budget horror "classics" & is more innovative & experimental with it's editing & camerawork & silent film style acting, minimal dialogue & pulsating musical score which was not common in early talkies. And the sets are very striking & visually impressive & it's one of Bela Lugosi's finest performances. This unique horror film stands out & is in a class by itself.

paultate, I had to follow your post all the way from Dracula31, and ended up in White Zombie!

In a way, its like a Night of the Living Dead 68 experience. All the major companies´ early horrorfilms were both classy and a bit limited in their stagyness(?). But White Z is a cheaply made independant film and Halperin and the guys did what they wanted to do, without any nosy interference from producers or company people. Thats why it dares to be dreamy, cinematic and experimental. In that sense I find it more timeless than most other of its kind. Island of Lost Souls is similar but has a solid budget, thats also a fantastic film...

White Zombie cast a spell on me too when I first saw it as a teenager & it's quite chilling unsettling & surreal right from the start. I was captivated by it & have been watching it ever since it's timeless. I don't see how a 12 year old child can laugh at "White Zombie" it's very intense & atmospheric & yes "Island Of Lost Souls" is also fantastic !

Yes, I know!
Here in Sweden, Television opened for the first time to old horror films in 1972. I was 9, horror TV didnt exist and now everyone watched the chosen movies (Universal classics!) and a whole generation of people became affected! We were running around playing monster rally all day (and sometimes night!) long, and I started to collect all horror comics magazines that came into the country for the first time. I was hooked for life! And earlier that same year,in the spring, they showed sci fi classics (like Invasion of Body Snatchers, TheThing and Time machine!). I remember though, a year earlier or later, they also showed White Zombie and Dreyer´s Vampyr, which I didnt enjoy so much, too slow for a child. But I changed totally when I saw them again as 20+. But my mission in life was, when VCR´s started to sell, to collect as many horror, sci fi and fantasy films as possible!

You've obviously never watched Twilight then.
